1983 the first Merrell products to market, we develop separate men’s and women’s lasts for instant out-of-the-box fit.
1985 revolutionises backcountry ski market with velcro telemark boot. The Eagle introduced, combining running shoe performance with backcountry utility. First of its kind, began our movement towards ground breaking multi‐sport technology.
1993 eco design shoe boxes developed with no adhesives or staples or other contaminants. 100,000 hiking boots sold using recycled rubber outsoles; 500,000 pair of hiking boots made with insoles using recycled coffee filters and paper. Introduced Front Range line - rugged lightweight leather and uppers on an athletic platform... the original outdoor cross trainers.
1995 Merrell and Vibram® begin collaborating on innovative outsole designs to enhance traction and slip resistance.
1997 Wolverine World Wide, Inc. acquires Merrell. The global leader in outdoor lifestyle footwear.
1998 develops a new product category called “aftersport” with the iconic Jungle Moc.
1999 Footwear News names Merrell “1999 Athletic/Outdoor Brand of the Year.” We launch the Merrell kid’s line.
2001 20th anniversary, introduce Chameleon collection.
2003 we introduce QForm® Comfort technology, that is specifically engineered for women.
2006 we launched Merrell Apparel, partnered with the National Park Foundation, introduced the Siren.
2007 we launched the Moab collection with over 2 million pairs sold.
2011 After 15 years of partnership, Merrell and Vibram® develop the Barefoot Collection. We turned 30.
2021 we turn 40 and continue to pushing the limits of high‐performance outdoor gear, winning multiple awards for our innovation in the outdoor lifestyle footwear space.
